Getting Ready on Your Wedding Day at The Bleckley Inn {Destination Downtown: Part 3}

Getting ready with your besties the morning of your wedding is when it all feels so surreal! All of the "it's finally happening!" and "you're the prettiest bride ever!" and joy just happens in those moments.

The @bleckleyinn is a perfect place for these moments to happen! With plenty of space to spread out and gorgeous balcony windows for natural light, you can't go wrong with getting ready at The Bleckley Inn. Our final stop in our Destination Downtown series is the Bridal Suite at the Bleckley and we are excited to share it with you.

Not only does the bridal suite have plenty of natural light for your wedding day, but it also features a dining table (that comfortably seats 6 - perfect for hair and make-up) but also a kitchenette with a full size fridge. One of the most important things to do on your wedding day is to make sure you eat a good bit of protein and food before walking down the aisle. We highly recommend a Graze and Taste Charcuterie Board, Chick-fil-a nuggets or PubSubs and you've got all the room you need for a food spread in the bridal suite. You can chill your mimosa ingredients the night before as you get access to the bridal suite for your entire wedding weekend!

pro tip: If you're planning on spending the night there after your wedding, make sure everyone clears their stuff out before the ceremony.

Getting Ready on Your Wedding Day

Wedding Day Hair & Make-Up Tips

One of our favorite hair/make-up artists, Katey Akins, suggests having clean, dry hair and a clean, make-up free face. She says it is okay to go through your normal skincare routine, but to make sure it doesn't contain sunscreen. For years we heard to come with "day old" hair, so we highly recommend checking with your wedding day stylist to see what they prefer. Some of it will also be dependent on your hair type and what style you're going for on your wedding day. We cannot recommend enough to have a trial with both your hair and make-up artists prior to your wedding day.

Wedding Day Tips from Your Photographer

One of our bestie gals, Sara of

Sara Touchet Photography

has a few tips for you too! --

If possible, get ready in a room that has a large window for natural light. No one wants to get ready in a room with fluorescent light. Yikes! Even just having one large window will give you a spot for all those really beautiful getting ready photos! Having natural light for your getting ready photos also helps your getting ready photos to match the photos from the rest of your day so your album looks cohesive. Remember, this also applies for the groom!

Don't forget to gather your details! You've spent all this time carefully choosing your bridal details, so be sure they are photographed so you have photos forever. The day is hectic, so it is ideal to put all the special items you want photographed in a bag (other than your dress,veil, and flowers) to give to your photographer when he or she arrives. If they are not already put together you take a risk of something being missed and not photographed. Additionally, I LOVE when florists leave extra flowers for me to use as I style the bridal details. Be sure to ask in advance for a few extra blooms and greenery to be left. It totally elevates the images.
