Behind the Veil: Our First Photoshoot

I'm really excited to start sharing this series with you! At least once a month I'll be updating you on all that's going on with Katharine Marie Weddings! Up first, our photoshoot for the Desiree Hartsock gowns.I knew I would be getting in my gowns before the store was even close to opening and I have been working with my designer on this website for a while as well. In researching how other shops set up their websites, I knew I wanted to have all my gowns (at least starting out) photographed cohesively. Many use the stock images from the designers, and it is amazing that they provide these because larger stores probably don't have time to take new images each time a dress comes to their store. But since I had the time, I decided having a cohesive gown gallery was something that I wanted to do.

Meeting Sara

A few months back I was building my Instagram and came across Sara Touchet, a wedding photographer in Anderson. I'm not sure if I picked up her card at local bridal fair or just by searching other vendor accounts. Stalker much? Probably, but look how good the pictures turned out! A few days before I moved back to Anderson, Sara posted this on her feed.We both ate tacos three days in a row and decided we needed to meet up when I moved back, and we did! During our first lunch we knew had the same vision for what the wedding and creative market in Anderson could look like. I told her my vision to get my dresses photographed in Anderson and she was all on board.

Meeting Belle Beauty

For the past year, my daddy and I have been looking at buildings all over downtown Anderson. When I moved back I noticed a building was under renovations and it looked adorable; plus it had "something good is coming soon" covering up the windows. Obviously my interest was peaked! A few days later I was able to meet Jessica Zirkelbach, the owner of Belle Beauty. Her shop was gorgeous! Jessica told me that they loved being close to several venues downtown. Since I was opening a shop right around the corner, it was a bridal dream come true.

Bringing It All Together

The three of us chatted via email and met up for breakfast on Wednesday before Friday's shoot. I had learned from a workshop in Atlanta with a few of my favorite vendors (Hi Natalie, Margaret, and Amanda!) as a planner, I should let the professionals be the professionals when it comes to a styled shoot. I explained my vision to them, gave them stock images of the dresses and told them to direct me on how to move forward.

It's Shoot Day

This day was everything I imagined it would be and more. Sara had determined that the light would be best around 4p so Jessica said we need to be at her shop at 2p for hair and make-up (we had two models to account for). Our first model was in her dress, hair and make-up complete right before 4p. Jessica and Morgan were spot on with their timing for our models. We had so much fun in Belle Beauty while the girls were getting ready. All of the stylists were very friendly and their salon is set up perfectly for groups. Jessica suggested using the Wren Park Pavilion and it became the backdrop for our photos. This was a dream-come-true, pinch-me moment and I could not be happier with these ladies and their work!
